  • Will Smith is recalling a time in his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith when the two "drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months".
  • The actor appeared on The Oprah Conversation to promote his new memoir, Will, and got into the more intimate details about his marriage.
  • He speaks to Oprah about the "spectacular" early days of the couple's relationship, as well as their breaking point.

While promoting his memoir, Will, Will Smith appeared on Apple TV+'s The Oprah Conversation, E! News reports, where he spoke candidly with the famed talk show host about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Of course, the two haven't shied away from detailing the most intimate details about their sex life – here, Jada tells Gwyneth Paltrow more – but the excerpt from the actor's book referred to by Oprah during their conversation definitely requires a warning for more sensitive readers.

The Bad Boys actor recalls a time at the beginning of the couple's relationship when they "drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months".

He wrote: "I started to wonder if this was a competition. Either way, as far as I was concerned, there were only two possibilities. 1) I was going to satisfy this woman sexually, or 2) I was going to die trying."

"Since you're not dead, we assume you won the competition," Oprah tells the star, who laughs and replies: "Well, it ended up being a lot more complex than that, Oprah."

He says: "You know, those early days were spectacular. Me and Jada, to this day, if we start talking, it's four hours. It's four hours if we exchange a sentence. And it's like, it's the centre of why we've been able to sustain and why we're still together, not choking the life out of each other. It's like, the ability to work through issues... I've just never met another person that I connect with in conversation more blissfully and productively than Jada."

Things haven't always been peachy for the couple though, who briefly separated – and Jada began a much-publicised relationship with August Alsina. Will Smith later revealed he too had an extramarital relationship(s), saying: "Jada never believed in conventional marriage."

He tells Oprah: "We never actually, like, officially separated. What happened was we realised that it was a fantasy illusion that we could make each other happy. And we agreed that she had to make herself happy, and I had to make myself happy, and then we were going to present ourselves back to the relationship already happy versus demanding that the other person fill our empty cup."
