  • Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are currently in marriage counselling but a source says "divorce is imminent" for the couple.
  • "It's really upsetting to both of them because they did try and make it work," another insider reveals.
  • Going forward they both want what's best for their four children. "She is focused on keeping them happy and healthy," a source says of Kim.

News broke this week of Kim Kardashian's plans to separate from Kanye West.

The couple is reportedly "in settlement talks". Sources say though it hasn't happened yet, "divorce is imminent", with Kim having already hired celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wesser to represent her going forward.

But what exactly does the future hold for Kim, Kanye, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm?

According to E! News, as they did over the holiday season, Kim will continue to live in Calabasas while Kanye stays in Wyoming. The rapper will fly back and forth to see their four children "at his own leisure".

Though the kids have and will continue to visit him in Wyoming, they'll stay with Kim and continue at their current schools.

Both Kim and Kanye are focused on doing what's best for the kids, including being with the rest of their Kardashian-Jenner cousins.

"She is focused on keeping them happy and healthy and wants them to have a good relationship with their dad. It's very important to her," an insider says of Kim.

"It's really upsetting to both of them because they did try and make it work for a very long time," they add of Kim and Kanye trying to work things out in marriage counselling, however, saying they both know it's over – their lifestyles and focuses just don't work together anymore.

"Kanye is aware the marriage is over," the source says. "It's upsetting to him. He loves Kim, but they don't get along half of the time. He's truly in his own world and gets in the zone of focusing solely on his own projects."

On the rest of the family's thoughts, they add: "All of the sisters are aware of the situation and are very supportive. They all love Kanye like a brother but agree it's best they part ways."

The insider says: "They know Kanye will still be a part of their lives and be at family functions, but everyone supports Kim in her decisions."
