Sara Lee has died. She was 30 years old.

The wrestler, who rose to fame on the sixth and final season of Tough Enough – a reality TV series where aspiring men and women compete for a one-year, $250 000 (R4.5 million) WWE contract, which she ended up winning – died on 5 October, the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office said. A cause of death has not been revealed, E! News reports.

Lee's mother, Terri, took to Facebook to mourn the death of her daughter, writing: "It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus. We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete. We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn."

She added: "We all need prayers especially Cory [Lee's husband, Cory James Weston, who performed on WWE under the name Wesley Blake] and her children."

WWE shared a statement following the news of Lee's death, saying in part: "As a former Tough Enough winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world."
