Last year the 44-year-old was recovering in South Africa after surgery and could not return home to celebrate the couple's 10th anniversary.

In a statement at the time, the former swimmer said: "This year will be the first time that I will not be with my husband on our wedding anniversary in July, which is difficult and saddens me."

A mini-series on their love story was broadcast on the palace's social media networks to mark the occasion.

Princess Charlene returned to public life earlier this year following her health battles. The couple's marriage has been plagued by divorce rumours which both Charlene and Albert have addressed.

"I still find it regrettable that certain media peddle such rumours about my life, my relationship," Charlene told the Monaco Matin in an interview.

Monaco's prince also addressed the rumours in an interview with Journal du Dimanche in June, "We were obviously hurt by the malicious rumours that were peddled. But we were able to stay united despite the distance."
