- CAMFED is a non-profit-organisation dedicated to eradicating poverty through education. The duke paid a visit to the organisation while in Africa in 2019.
- The Sussex Squad initially started the fundraiser in honour of the duke and duchess, and started using the hashtags #InspiredbyHarry and #InspiredbyMeghan.
- For Prince Harry's birthday the couple matched the amount. "No better way to celebrate what really matters," they said.
Prince Harry just turned 36 and celebrated the best way he knows how – by giving back.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex matched the $130 000 (R2 million) amount raised by their fans for CAMFED – the Campaign for Female Education – a non-profit organisation dedicated to eradicating poverty through education.
The fundraiser was started by the Sussex Squad in July, reports Harper's Bazaar, with those contributing sharing the hashtags #InspiredbyHarry and #InspiredbyMeghan.
CAMFED shared the news of Harry and Meghan's donation on Twitter, with a statement from the royal couple.
"No better way to celebrate what really matters," they said. "Thank you to everyone that donated!"

Prince Harry visited CAMFED while in Malawi on the duke and duchess' Sussex Royal Tour of Africa in 2019.
Meghan, who was in South Africa at the time with Archie, joined in via video call.
"I'm so happy to be with you," Meghan said during the call.
"We're just so proud as president and vice-president of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust that we can support you in everything that you do because we cannot begin to express how valuable and vital that work is, we're just incredibly proud to be part of it."
She continued: "I wish I could be with you, we're in South Africa right now. Archie's taking a nap. I'm with you in spirit."
The royal family also wished Harry a very happy birthday, with the queen sharing a photo with her smiling grandson, while William and Kate shared a nostalgic photo of the trio.
