Princess Charlene has taken to Instagram to share photos of her twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabrielle.

The former Olympic swimmer, who was hospitalised earlier this month – the palace said after "suddenly collapsing" – shared photos of her children at Monaco's annual dog show.

"Spending time with their auntie HRH Princess Caroline and their cousins," she wrote. Princess Caroline of Hanover is the elder sister of her husband, Prince Albert.

She added a red heart emoji and prayer hands to the caption of the post, which also sees Gabriella in a wheelchair with her leg in a pink cast. According to People, Gabriella's injury is "just a sprain". "She took a bad fall while playing," a source said.

The twins have started attending school at Francois d'Assise-Nicolas Barré while their mom continues to recover in South Africa where she's been recuperating since May after contracting an infection.

Though her extended stay has fuelled rumours of a royal split from Prince Albert, the reigning monarch addressed the speculation directly recently, saying he's "appalled" by the tabloid fodder.

"She didn't leave Monaco in a huff! She didn't leave because she was mad at me or at anybody else," he said. "She didn't go into exile. It was absolutely just a medical problem which had to be treated."
