Queen Elizabeth will be joined by other members of the royal family for future engagements.

This comes after the monarch was forced to cancel a visit to Northern Ireland last week after being advised to rest for a few days.

The 95-year-old spent a night in hospital on Wednesday for the first time in years for what Buckingham Palace termed "preliminary investigations" but was in good spirits and back at work at Windsor Castle on Thursday.

According to the New Zealand Herald, family members have increased the engagements they carry out with the queen since Prince Philip's death.

A royal source said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "keen to provide any support they can".
