The royal family celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday, 22 March, along with the rest of the UK – and eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out a never-before-seen photo of the Duchess of Cambridge with Princess Charlotte.

In an Instagram post, the Cambridges wrote, with referencing to the coronavirus pandemic, "To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time."

With it, they shared a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, piggybacking their little ones, along with a picture of their mothers, Princess Diana and Carole Middleton, and a card from 6-year-old Prince George to his mother on Mother's Day.

The rest of the royal family also shared posts for Mother's Day, with Her Majesty going into the archives for a picture of herself when she was still Prince Elizabeth, with her mom, Queen Elizabeth.

And although Harry and Meghan are up in Canada, they too shared in celebrating Mother's Day with the UK.

"No matter what you call your mum, this Mother's Day in the UK, we honour the mums all over the world who do so much every single day, and now more than ever," they wrote with a simple, "Thank you."
