Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance during America's Got Talent this week.
The Duchess of Sussex surprised Archie Williams, one of the show's finalists, who was wrongly convicted of aggravated rape and attempted murder at the age of 22.
After 12 years in prison, he got in touch with the Innocence Project. However, it was only in March 2019 – after 36 years in jail – Archie could call himself a free man, after his case was overturned when fingerprints found at the scene of the crime matched a serial rapist, reports People.
The singer has since become a favourite on the reality show.
"Hi Archie, I just wanted to let you know that we've been so moved by your story and we've been cheering you on every week and it's not just because we're partial to the name," Meghan said in a special message broadcast during Wednesday's episode.
"So, a very special message to you that I'll probably be saying all of my life, but on this night it's specifically for you: Archie, we are proud of you and are rooting for you, we can't wait to see what you do. We're in your corner, have a good night."
