It turns out Prince Charles is a loyal pen pal.

At a briefing Wednesday for the annual royal financial report, it was revealed that the Prince of Wales is a prolific letter-writer, penning more 2 400 a year — almost seven a day.

According to People, Charles receives tens of thousands of letters a year that are written personally to him by UK citizens. The royal reportedly sees a large selection of these letters, and if they catch his eye, he responds.

"Very often when members of the public write to him, they may be surprised to see on their doormat a personal letter from the heir to the throne," a royal source said.

"It is all about listening. He says we only learn when we listen, and when members of the public write to him, that is a form of active listening. He really does take the thoughts and comments on board and learns from them," the source added.

The annual review further revealed that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall underwent 397 official engagements, travelled to 42 UK counties and 84 towns, and conducted four overseas tours.
