Cape Town - He’s had his share of flops (remember 47 Ronin? It takes a special kind of awful to achieve just 15% on Rotten Tomatoes) but also plenty of successes (did you know that Will Smith turned down the role of Neo in The Matrix? He thought he was dodging a career bullet, only to see Reeves make Neo one of the most iconic sci-fi characters ever). Through his many and varied career highs and lows, Reeves has become one of the most revered actors in Hollywood, with a role in Toy Story 4 to prove it.

While you wait to hear him as Duke Caboom, check out these movies starring Keanu Reeves from the last 20 years, during which he hasn’t aged a single day.

1. The Whole Truth (2016) - Showmax

Ramsey is an attorney defending a teenage boy accused of brutally stabbing his wealthy father to death. As more evidence comes to light, the whole truth seems darker than Ramsey could’ve imagined.

2. John Wick (2014) - DStv Now

After seeing John Wick 3: Parabellum in cinemas, go back to the beginning with the first movie in the trilogy about an ex-hitman who came out of retirement to track down the gangsters who robbed him of everything he held dear. This was Reeves’ long-awaited return to action movies.

3. Always Be My Maybe (2019) - Netflix

Reeves plays himself in this charming romcom as the new love interest of a successful chef who moves home, only to be dumped by her fiance. Her childhood friend Randall has always held a candle for her - but seeing her with none other than Keanu Reeves puts a damper on his chances of reigniting their spark.

4. The Matrix (1999) - Netflix

The Wachowskis’ four-time Oscar winner changed the face of sci-fi forever, with its clever writing, groundbreaking special effects, Reeves’ performance as Neo and Laurence Fishburne’s as Morpheus. For a Matrix binge-watch, the sequels Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions are both on Netflix.

5. To The Bone (2017) - Netflix

It may not sound like your cup of tea from the synopsis on the Netflix app, but this movie about an anorexic teen (played stunningly by Lily Collins) is moving, lyrical, quirky and well worth your time, if only for Keanu Reeves as the unconventional doctor who coaxes her to learn to live again.

6. Street Kings (2008) - Amazon Prime

An action classic of the so-bad-it’s-great ilk (36% on Rotten Tomatoes!), starring Reeves as veteran undercover cop Tom Ludlow, who resolves to bring his partner’s killers to justice in the face of resistance from within the LAPD. Also starring Forest Whitaker as Ludlow’s boss, Hugh Laurie as his Internal Affairs nemesis and Chris Evans as his youthful recruit.
