Eddie Murphy's upcoming sequel Coming 2 America has been sold by Paramount to Amazon Studios and will be released straight to the streaming service later this year, reports Variety.

The film comes 32 years after the original which saw Eddie's character Akeem Joffer, the crown prince of the fictional African nation of Zamunda, go to the US to find a wife.

The sequel is set after the events of the first film and sees Akeem set to become king when he discovers he has a son in America that he didn't know about.

Eddie, including original cast members Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones, will reprise their roles alongside new cast members Jermaine Fowler, KiKi Layne, and South African actor Nomzamo Mbatha.
