Ryan Gosling stars as Ken alongside the Australian actor. Greta Gerwig, who is directing, co-wrote the script with Noah Baumbach. Other cast members include America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp and Will Ferrell.
While details about the film remain under wraps, Robbie told The Hollywood Reporter in 2020 that the film will surprise people.
"Our goal is to be like, 'Whatever you're thinking, we're going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn't know you wanted. Now, can we truly honour the IP and the fan base and also surprise people? Because if we can do all that and provoke a thoughtful conversation, then we're really firing on all cylinders," she said.
The film releases in cinemas in July 2023.
