Timothée Chalamet has teased a first look as the character Willy Wonka.

The 25-year-old will play the iconic candy man in the upcoming film Wonka.

"The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last... Wonka," wrote the Call Me By Your Name actor alongside two photos on Instagram.

In the first picture, he is wearing a chocolate-brown top hat and burgundy coat. The second picture is a close-up of his hand reaching for the knob of Wonka's cane.

According to Deadline, the film based on the characters created by Roald Dahl will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the world's most famous chocolate factory.

The film directed by Paul King (Paddington) will also star Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson and Jim Carter. It is scheduled for release in March 2023.
