John Boyega got a few things off his chest about his Star Wars role in a new explosive interview with GQ.

The 28-year-old played Finn – a First Order stormtrooper who rebels and joins the resistance – in the 2015 to 2019 trilogy.

In an interview with Jimi Famurewa for British GQ, the actor opened up about his experience as a Black man in the franchise and shared how he felt about his character being side-lined.

"What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up," said John.

About the lack of development for his character, John said that while they knew what to do with Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver's characters, they didn't know what to do with his and Kelly Marie Tran's characters.

"They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let's be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I'm not exposing anything."
