While John Cena's character in The Suicide Squad is excessively buttoned-up, director James Gunn says he is the best improv artist he has ever worked with in his life.

The WWE superstar plays Christopher Smith/Peacemaker in Gunn's much-anticipated sequel to the 2016 film directed by David Ayer. He will also star in a spin-off television series which will debut in January 2022 on HBO Max.

The character is described as "a ruthless, jingoistic killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost".
