The 48-year-old stars alongside Jennifer Lopez in the upcoming action-comedy, which wrapped filming in April.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Josh told host Jimmy Fallon that he was exploring a cove during his downtime and came across tumultuous waves, reports People.
"The waves were crashing like 30 feet in the air," he described. "This rogue wave comes up as I'm videotaping this thing and literally washed me almost over the edge of this cliff."
The Las Vegas actor who was standing on razor-sharp coral scraped his legs when he was knocked down.
"It was one of the near-death experiences of my life, for sure." He added that he can laugh about it now but didn't tell anyone at the time because he was afraid he would be kicked off the movie.
On working with Jennifer, Josh said, "it was like rekindling an old friendship with an old friend."
