Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie thinks Austin Butler
deserves an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of her father.
The 30-year-old has received rave reviews for his portrayal in Baz Luhrmann's biopic of the King of Rock n Roll since its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
To celebrate the new film Elvis' ex-wife Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie and granddaughter Riley Keough had a hand and footprint ceremony at the iconic TLC Chinese Theater on Tuesday.
In an interview with Extra's Rachel Lindsay, Lisa Marie and Riley said that Butler "one hundred percent" deserved an Oscar nomination for the movie.
"You know, I'm a bit biased, but absolutely, 100 percent… I can look at it objectively as well, sure. I think that he did such an incredible job," said Lisa Marie.
The 54-year-old has had nothing but praise for the Carrie Diaries actor. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said it was as if Butler channelled her father.
"He put everything he had, his heart, his soul, everything he had into researching, reading, watching, learning. He honoured him in every way possible."
In a featurette for the movie, Butler shared that to prepare for the role of a lifetime, he read every book he could get his hands on, watched everything he could find and worked with several different vocal coaches.
Elvis releases in SA cinemas on Friday, 24 June.
