In the video Vardalos, who plays the lead character Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, revealed that she will be directing the film.

The original 2002 film followed Toula, a Greek American woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man Ian Miller (John Corbett). The film was nominated at the 75th Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay.
In the 2016 sequel, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, Toula and Ian's marriage was going through a rough patch. At the same time, Toula's parents, Gus (Michael Constantine) and Maria's (Lainie Kazan) marriage certificate was never signed, which led to them getting remarried.
While details of the plot are under wraps, a source told Deadline that Toula and Ian's daughter Paris will tie the knot.
