  • Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage has blasted Disney's upcoming live-adaption of Snow White.

  • "Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox?" he said.

Peter Dinklage has slammed Disney for its upcoming film Snow White.

The studio's latest live-action adaption stars West Side Story actor Rachel Zegler in the title role and Gal Gadot as the evil queen.

In an interview on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, the Game of Thrones actor criticised the remake due to the fairytale's depiction of dwarfs, reports Variety.

"There's a lot of hypocrisy going on," the 52-year-old said. "Literally no offence to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But you're still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you're doing there. It makes no sense to me."

He continued: "You're progressive in one way, but then you're still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together; what the fuck are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I'm not loud enough. I don't know which studio that is, but they were so proud of it. All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing. But I'm just like, what are you doing?"

The original 1937 film based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale was Disney's first animated film. While details surrounding the new film directed by Marc Webb remains under wraps, Deadline reported last year that the film would expand on the original story and feather new songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land).

Peter added that the story needs to be handled the right way, "If you tell the story of Snow White with the most fucked up, cool, or progressive spin on it? Let's do it. All in," reports Entertainment Weekly.

Production of the film is set to begin sometime this year.
