South Africa's very best walked the red carpet at the Beast premiere on Thursday evening at the V&A Waterfront.
News24's Bashiera Parker spoke to actors Sharlto Copley, as well as Naledi Mogadime, Martin Munro and Kazi Khuboni.
Also in attendance were Cape Town City Manager Lungelo Mbandazayo, Western Cape Chair of Standing Committee Gillion Bosman, TV personality Katlego Maboe and Die Antwoord, to name a few.
Beast, which stars Idris Elba as the lead, as well as Iyana Halley and Leah Jeffries, follows Dr Nate Samuels, who returns to South Africa after the death of his wife. At a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Copley), his journey home soon takes a turn when he finds he must protect his family after they're hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving the savannah has but one apex predator.
"This film has scares. It has excitement," Sharlto Copley tells us on the red carpet. "We're watching it the premiere the other night in New York. And I was just watching people literally on the edge of their seats, literally biting nails."
He says: "I've never been in a movie where that's happened, I suppose. I've never done a thriller, but it was an amazing experience."
