The trailer for Redeeming Love – produced by South African media company Nthibah pictures – has just been released.

The company has partnered with Universal Pictures to handle the film's distribution in U.S. and Canadian theatres.

"The hard work and collaboration of local and international teams came together and produced a great film that caught the attention of Universal Pictures. The deal is a great moment in our short company history and delivers on our promise of producing films that have global appeal."
Simon Swart, Producer and Nthibah Pictures CEO

The romance drama was filmed in the winelands region of Stellenbosch over eight weeks, starting in February 2020.

Based on the novel of the same name by Francine Rivers, it is a powerful and timeless love story that takes place against the backdrop of the California Gold Rush of 1850. The story centres on Angel (Abigail Cowen), who was sold into prostitution as a child. She has survived through hatred and self-loathing until she meets Michael Hosea (Tom Lewis) and discovers there is no brokenness that love can't heal.

Other cast members include Logan Marshall-Green, Famke Janssen, Nina Dobrev and Eric Dane.

The film is scheduled for release in early 2022.
