Tom Holland to play Fred Astaire in upcoming Sony biopic

Tom Holland is dusting off his dancing shoes for his next role.

The Spider-Man actor will play legendary actor, dancer and singer Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic for Sony.

During an interview with AP on Sunday at a Spider-Man: No Way Home event in London, the 25-year-old confirmed the casting.

"The script came in a week ago, I haven't read it yet; they haven't given it to me."

He added that producer Amy Pascal has the script, "She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the bath. And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire."

Tom has an extensive dance background. He began his acting career in the stage production Billy Elliot: The Musical and played the titulare role from 2008 - 2010.

The Devil All The Time actor also showed off his dance skills in an episode of Lip Sync Battle, where he did a performance of Rihanna's Umbrella.
