Cape Town – There's an Oscar buzz surrounding Gary Oldman's role as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour.

The Academy-Award nominee completely transformed into the British Prime Minister, a role that critics are saying could land him another Oscar nomination.

It premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews with critics calling his performance one of the best portrayals of Churchill.

A thrilling and inspiring true story begins at the precipice of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: Exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

Other cast members include: Kristin Scott Thomas as his wife Clementine, Stephen Dillane as the Foreign Secretary, Lily James as his personal secretary and Ben Mendelsohn as and King George VI.
