What it's about:

When Jay and Annie first got together, their romantic connection was intense, but, ten years and two kids later, their love needs a new spark. To kick things up a notch, they decide to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea, until their most private video becomes no longer private. With their reputations on the line, they know they’re just one click away from being laid bare to the world, but, as their race to reclaim their video leads to a night they'll never forget, they'll find that their video will expose even more than they had bargained for.

What we thought:

When asked who would be interested in watching the movie Sex Tape I was the first to raise my hand at the speed of a lightning bolt.

It’s not often that you get the opportunity to watch Cameron Diaz half naked on the big screen. This is probably also the closest I’ll ever get to watching the Hollywood starlet make a sex tape.

So of course I eagerly volunteered my services.

Sadly the movie didn’t rise to the occasion. It was a limp, floppy attempt at something that could have easily been a bona fide hit.

The story is about a married couple that wake up to discover that the sex tape they made the evening before has gone missing, leading to a frantic search for its whereabouts.

The film teases with some promising foreplay but quickly descents into a mediocre mess that will ultimately leave you feeling unsatisfied.

The plotline is clearly in desperate need of some of those magic blue pills and at times become so absurd that you can hardly believe what you’re watching. Like the ridiculous scene when a German shepherd dog starts running around with a giant double-sided pink dildo in its mouth while Rob Lowe and Cameron snorts some cocaine.

If you’re in the mood for something sexy, raunchy or exciting this is not the movie for you as Sex Tape ultimately fails to reach its climax.
