2/5 Stars

WHAT IT'S ABOUT:

Rachel (Caren Pistorius) gets into a small argument with the stranger on the road. But the man (Russell Crowe) turns out to be mentally unstable and makes her a target of his rage, killing and injuring several people.

WHAT THE CRITICS THOUGHT:

No one shows anger boiling in the stomach quite like Crowe, who finds a way to kick-start this material - vicious trash, at a glance - by touring us around a mindset that's impressively credible in the circumstances. - Tim Robey, Daily Telegraph (UK)

Despite its bullet-point nods to toxic masculinity and some glib armchair sociology about the rage-fueled society we have become, "Unhinged" doesn't have much on its mind. - Justin Chang, Los Angeles Times

It's hard to imagine anyone desperate to an "Unhinged" degree. - Mark Feeney, Boston Globe

Follow Crowe on Twitter. Find another film to bring you back to the theatre. - Jocelyn Noveck, Associated Press
