- Ariana Grande has become the most streamed female artist on Spotify, according to Chart Data.
- The singer surpassed Rihanna who previously held that title.
- Ariana thanked her fans for their support on social media, while also urging Rihanna to release new music "so she can rightfully snatch" the record back.
According to Chart Data, Ariana Grande is officially the most stream female artist of all-time on Spotify.
The singer has taken over the title which was previously held by Rihanna.
"Holy shit thank u so much for listening and caring at all let alone this much. I can't wait to give u new things to listen to," Ariana wrote when she shared the news on Instagram.
The singer quickly followed that up with a message to Rihanna, and it's something we've all been asking for - new music.
"Now can rihanna pls drop her album so she can rightfully snatch this back and fill my ears again please or...." she added.
Rihanna's last studio album was Anti in 2016. Since then, fans have been begging the star to release new music.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in July, RiRi revealed that she is "always working on music" saying that she will drop her new album when she is ready to do so and that it will be "worth the wait".
Ariana's record-breaking move comes as no surprise, though. The singer has continuously produced chart-topping hits, releasing popular collabs Stuck With U (alongside Justin Bieber) and Rain On Me (with Lady Gaga) this year.
The Thank U, Next singer also leads the pack of nominees at the 2020 MTV VMAs along with Lady Gaga. Both artists have received nine nominations.
