Johannesburg – Local singer Jimmy Nevis has joined the movement of people who are working to "mute" R Kelly by no longer supporting the US artist's music.

Many have taken a stand against R Kelly after numerous sexual abuse allegations had been made against the star. People were even more outraged when the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R Kelly made it's debut, with many voicing their opinion on social media.

Sharing a post on Tuesday, Jimmy Nevis mentioned that he will no longer be listening to, performing or endorsing R Kelly's music.

"I want to be a part of a world where women can speak openly about their experiences without the fear of judgement and having to defend their truth," he wrote.
