SA singer Jesse Clegg is back with new music.

The star released his up-tempo pop track Speed of Light on Friday, just in time for the upcoming SA summer season.

Yes, we can definitely see ourselves jamming to this one poolside with a drink.

In a statement released to the press, Jesse explained the meaning behind Speed of Light.

"The song is written from the perspective of someone who is dealing with disappointment and regret, and then suddenly stumbles into an experience that allows him to rediscover his passion and feeling of connection. It's ultimately about how, even at our lowest points, life can still hold some inspiring surprises."

The track was written and produced by Jesse alongside US singer/songwriter Nick Furlong (known for working with the likes of Avicci, Kygo and Steve Aoki) as well as Walk the Moon frontman, Nick Petricca.

Grammy award-winning musician and producer Tim Pagnotta mixed the track.
