A decade in and three studio albums deep, Matthew Mole is back with a brand-new single, Goodbye.

As the South African muso prepares for an extensive European and UK tour in support of his rich and mounting body of feted work, Channel24 picked his brain about the heartfelt anthem.

LISTEN TO GOODBYE HERE:

From taking two years to complete the song and describing it in three words to learning how to say goodbye in "six or seven" languages – here are six fun facts about Goodbye.

1. Describe Goodbye in three words?

Emotional, victorious and unifying.

2. What is your favourite part of Goodbye?

The bridge, where everything explodes! I love that it was something difficult for me to sing and work out how to pull off. I can't wait to scream those lyrics live on stage!

3. How long did it take you to write, create, and record Goodbye?

From the start of the idea itself to the day I heard the final mix, it took about two years.

4. Why should people listen to Goodbye?

We've all been through a lot, and for most of us, things might not have gone the way that we planned for them to go. But we kept pushing, we learnt a lot, and we continue to fight. This song is a declaration of victory by saying goodbye to the things that have tried to pull us down.

5. How many times do you say goodbye in Goodbye?

Nine times!

6. In how many languages can you say goodbye?

Without cheating and using Google Translate, honestly, maybe like six or seven. Thanks to the many movies I've watched!
