A new Aaliyah track has been released, featuring Canadian singer The Weeknd.

The song, titled Poison, dropped on Friday, 17 December, and is expected to be part of a posthumous album from the singer released via Blackground Records 2.0 and Empire.

According to Pitchfork, Barry Hankerson, Blackground founder and Aaliyah's uncle, revealed in an interview with Billboard this year that the album would also feature Drake and Future.

In August this year, it was announced that Aaliyah's full music catalogue would finally be available on streaming services.

While great news for fans who yearned to have the singer's classics on repeat, the decision to release the catalogue was one that has allegedly caused friction between Aaliyah's uncle and her estate who claimed the decision by Blackground Records to partner up with Empire on the release of the catalogue took place without their knowledge.
