Master KG wins Best African Act at the 2020 MTV EMAs

South African musician and Jerusalema hitmaker Master KG won Best African Act at the 2020 MTV EMAs.

In a virtually recorded acceptance speech Master KG thanked his fans who helped him make the hit song one of the biggest songs on the planet.

"I would love to thank my sister Nomcebo, my team Open Mic Productions, and everyone who has supported Master KG, thank you so much. To all my fans all over the world, without you, this would have not been possible," he said.

The viral track has picked up several accolades throughout the year from going platinum in Italy, to hitting 100 million views on YouTube and becoming one of the most Shazamed songs in the world.

The South African film industry also came together to create a mini-feature of the song.

The 2020 MTV EMAs premiered on MTV & MTV Base on Sunday and will repeat on MTV (DStv 130) Monday, 9 November at 18:00 (Pre-show) and 19:00 (Main-show). MTV Base (DStv 322) viewers can catch the repeat on Tuesday, 10 November at 19:00 (Pre-show) and 20:00 (Main-show).
