SA singer Nic Billington is shining a light on mental health with his new track, Without a Warning.
The track, which was released along with powerful visuals, tackles "issues surrounding mental health and serves as a stark reminder that appearances at face value can be deceiving," a press statement explains.
Having dealt with anxiety, depression and low self-esteem for many years, Nic decided to openly address his struggles through this song.
"Because I'm such a private person, I would hate to give the impression that my life is perfect. I don't always have it all together and that's something we never show over social media. We're constantly comparing ourselves to this filtered life that we see on Instagram and it's so detrimental to our psyche," he says.
"I decided to open up about my struggles to show that anyone can fall victim to mental illness. Which is why it's important for people to be mindful of how they treat others because it can unknowingly harm a person's well-being."
The video was produced and directed by Nic, showing scenes of "chaos, constriction, and distress".
Nic describes it as a "beautifully dark and turbulent representation of someone that is at war with their own mind".
