While chatting to Billboard on the VMAs red carpet, Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean revealed the song that the group "hated" the most and would not perform.

According to the singer, If You Want It To Be Good Girl (Get Yourself a Bad Boy) was the group's least favourite song from their catalogue.

"That's our least favourite song we've ever recorded," AJ told the publication, adding: "We have never sang it live, we will never do it live."

The song first appeared on the band's 1997 album, Backstreet's Back.

When singer Nick Lachey, who walked the carpet alongside AJ and Lance Bass, added that AJ now knows what the song means to fans, the Backstreet Boys member revealed that the group has realised its "toxic for 5-year-olds".

"I have an almost 5-year-old, I don't want that for her," he said.
