Spotify has released its "Wrapped" lists for 2021, revealing which artists and songs South Africans have streamed most this year.

The 2021 list is a celebration of "the millions of weird and wonderful ways to listen and live in a world that continues to keep everyone on their toes," a press release reads. 

Take a look at a breakdown of the most-streamed artists and tracks on Spotify for 2021. 

Most-streamed artists in SA

International rapper Drake tops the list of the most-streamed artists in South Africa. The Certified Lover Boy's popularity extends further into Africa as he claims the top spot in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Juice WRLD took second place in SA, followed by Justin Bieber, Kanye West and The Weeknd.

SA star, DJ Maphorisa, enters the top 10 most-streamed artists in South Africa list at number eight, making him the only local among the international acts.

Most-streamed local artists in South Africa

Amapiano artists dominated as the most-streamed local artists in South Africa, claiming the top five spots in the category. 

Dj Maphorisa leads the pack on the list, followed by Kabza De Small, Busta 929, De Mthuda, and Mr JazziQ.

Also included on the list is Makhadzi, who takes her spot as the most-streamed female South Africa artist in 2021.

Most-streamed songs in South Africa

The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber's Stay is the most-streamed song in South Africa for 2021, followed by Tiësto's The Business and Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits

Local star Busta 929 takes the number four spot with Umsebenzi Wethu, followed by Olivia Rodrigo's drivers license.

Most-Streamed South African songs in South Africa

Busta 929's Umsebenzi Wethu takes the top spot here, followed by De Mthuda's John Wick, DJ Maphorisa's Izolo, Kabza De Small's Abalele, and DJ Maphorisa once again with Banyana.

Most-streamed playlists in South Africa

Once again, amapiano takes the crown, owning the most-streamed playlists list as well as the most-streamed local songs list.

Drake's Certified Lover Boy was the most-streamed album in South Africa on Spotify.

Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR takes the second spot, followed by Ed Sheeran's = (Equals), Justin Bieber's Justice, and the late Pop Smoke's Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon

Most-streamed South African albums list

Afrikaans singer Riaan Benadé's Spontaan took the top spot on the most-streamed South African albums list. 

New kid on the hip hop block, Blxckie, took the second spot with his debut album B4Now. A-Reece's Today's Tragedy, Tomorrow's Memory: The Mixtape is at number three, followed by Busta 929's Undisputed Vol 2 and Makhadzi's Kokovha and number four and five, respectively.
