Want to own six strands of Kurt Cobain's hair? Well, now's your chance.

The Nirvana frontman's locks are going up for auction via Iconic Auctions, along with pictures to prove that it is indeed his hair.

The lot includes "six strands of Cobain's blonde hair", with the largest measuring around 2.5 inches, according to a description on the Iconic Auctions website.

"This one-of-a-kind artifact is entirely fresh-to-market, and accompanied by an impeccable lineage of provenance including images of Kurt posing with the woman who cut this hair, scissors in hand, and a fantastic shot of the hair actually being cut! [sic]"

The minimum bid for the locks is $2 500 (R35 000).

Other Nirvana items up for grabs at the auction include a signed photograph and a signed guitar.

In May 2020, the guitar which Kurt used during Nirvana's MTV Unplugged session sold for $1 million (R14 million) at an auction.
