South Africa’s most famous funnyman has notched up yet another award a few days after he bagged two NAACP Image Awards for his autobiography, Born a Crime.

Last night in the US he scooped the Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite African Star.

The Daily Show host beat fellow South Africans Pearl Thusi and Wayde van Niekerk, Nigerian sensations Yemi Alade and Funke Akindele Bello, as well as Academy Award-winning Kenyan treasure Lupita Nyong’o.

Noah received the coveted blimp trophy thanks to kids throughout Africa who voted for their favourites.

Unable to make it, he sent a video acceptance speech, shot on the set of The Daily Show.

“Nickelodeon! And the kids! Thank you so much for this amazing award. I am so honoured to be your Favourite African Star. [Thanks] for giving me this Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.”

Examining the inside of his award, Noah quipped: “Did you know that it’s a kaleidoscope? I didn’t know that, you can see things – oh look at that! I can see Africa. Oh-oh-oh … I wanna go home. Thanks again, everybody.”

The awards were hosted by wrestling superstar John Cena and featured performances by Little Mix, Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello.

There were appearances by Nikki and Brie Bella, The Chainsmokers, Nick Cannon, Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Evans, Kevin Hart and new baby daddy DJ Khaled.

. Tune in to the TV broadcast on Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) and Nicktoons (DStv channel 308) at 3.40pm on Wednesday, March 15
