We've made a list of surprising local celebrity family connections you might not have known about.

1. Beáta Bena Green and Tamaryn Green

Arendsvlei actress Beáta and former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green are cousins. 

Beáta also has several beauty titles under her belt and was crowned Miss Teen South Africa in 2013. In 2017 she won the provincial category at Miss Mamelodi Sundowns.

Looks like the gorgeous gene is hereditary! 

2. Wayde van Niekerk and Cheslin Kolbe

Wayde Van Niekerk isn't the only family member to win a medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, his cousin, Cheslin Kolbe, won bronze with the South African Sevens rugby team.

3. Anatii and Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu

Former TV personality Noeleen Mahulwana-Sangqu is rapper Anatii's aunt. Noeleen and Anatii's mothers are sisters. 

4. Simphiwe Ngema and Mpho Sibeko

Local celebrity cousins Simphiwe Ngema and Mpho Sibeko have both made it in the South African acting scene.

Simphiwe is best known for her roles in Muvhango and Broken Vows, while Mpho starred in e.tv's Gold Diggers and Scandal!

5. Moneoa and Nthati Moshesh 

Local actress Nthati Moshesh is singer Moneoa's aunt. The pair often send shout-outs to each other on social media.

About her aunt, Moneoa told Glamour: "She's given me industry advice, she's a great actress and human being in general, and I love her.
