Radio personality Anele Mdoda said on Twitter that she tested positive for Covid-19.

"Covid19 has no rules. It does what it wants. It grows where it wants. It attacks as it pleases and takes whomever it wants. Brace yourselves," the 947 radio DJ tweeted.

Anele did not elaborate further on her condition or the severity of her symptoms, but in a separate tweet said that she is taking medication.

On Monday, when asked by a listener about her on-air absence on Twitter, Anele replied, saying: "Covid. One day I will let you know of this week."

Anele joins several other South African public figures who have revealed that they tested positive for Covid-19 including Cassper Nyovest, Ama Qamata and TT Mbha.

On Monday, the Covid-19 death toll in South Africa stood at 22 206, with 814 565 confirmed cases.
