The Cape Town International Comedy Festival has relaunched with a bang after an eight-year hiatus and will host 15 award-winning international comedians in The Mother City from 1 March 2020.

Speaking to Channel24 about the revamp festival director Sam Hendrikse said: "This is the most international comedians to ever be at one event in South Africa."

About what people can expect he tells us: "We are hosting some of the best comedians in the world, the likes of those who have won the golden buzzer on Britain's Got Talent, The Last Comic Standing and acts from Live at The Apollo."

In previous years, the CTCF introduced acts like Jim Jeffries, Jimmy Carr, Russell Peters and Trevor Noah to South Africa and catapulted the careers of many local acts.

Sam let us in on an interesting tidbit about Trevor Noah, saying the host of The Daily Show first met his American agent backstage at the CTCF, "and the rest is history," he laughs.

The festival will have something for everyone, from edgier (naughty, a bit late-night) comedy to an all-female led cast. Aside from the obvious comedy, the festival will also host workshops and Q&A's with industry experts.

If you only have time to squeeze in one show, Sam suggests you check out U.N. Comedy Show. "It's the broadest selection of comedy all on one stage,"  and if you have time for one more, give Dealt ago - it will be like something you've never experienced before!
