Actor Ceagan Arendse, known for his portrayal of Woelag in the Afrikaans soap Arendsvlei, died on 13 February. He was 34.
Besides his role in Arendsvlei on kykNET & Kie (DStv 145), he also appeared in kykNET's Suidooster as Frankie, Projek Dina as Theo, and the SABC2 miniseries Riemvasmaak in 2008 as Willie Hendriks.
Following his death, the family confirmed to Channel24 that Ceagan died by suicide.
Speaking to Huisgenoot, his wife Ziggy said: "He was the most incredible, beautiful and loving soul."
"He was beautiful inside and out. He was genuine and didn't have a bad bone in his body. He wanted to make everyone around him happy and loved seeing people smile," she said.
According to his wife, he had expressed excitement about his upcoming roles in Showmax's Skemerdans and Die Sentrum on SABC2, and the couple's coffee shop which opened its doors five days before his death.
"We had no idea that he was sad. It was a big shock to everyone. There were no signs, and that's what's making it so hard because everything was going so well," she said, adding that they were looking forward to spending Valentine's Day together.
Although Ziggy did not reveal more about the circumstances surrounding his death, she confirmed that she discovered his body in their family home.
