Idols SA contestant Jerodine Madlala is expecting her second child and tells Channel24: "I feel blessed to be a mom again."

On Sunday, ahead of the ladies top 8 performances Idols SA announced the exciting news on Twitter, congratulating her on her bundle of joy.

Jerodine opened the show, vying for her spot in the top 10 with a rendition of En Vogue's Giving Him Something He Can Feel About

The judges were unanimous in their praise, with Randall Abrahams saying her performance was good from the start, and that he could see her growing in the competition. "It was a good place to start," he said. Unathi Nkayi said it was Jerodine's best performance yet, calling it immaculate, while Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung called her a powerhouse.

Speaking to Channel24 about the pregnancy news, Jerodine says: "It is the most exciting thing ever for me, and I couldn't be happier. It's just the most incredible blessing that any women could ever wish for - to have the opportunity to carry life inside of you and to nurture and care for a child."

This is Jerodine's second child, and she says that although the news was unexpected, she is grateful to God and has embraced the pregnancy journey with both arms.

"I have been getting the most incredible support and it's been so overwhelming," she says about the response she has received from the Idols SA production team, as well viewers, friends and family.

"The production is supportive. The contestants are supportive. My family is supportive, and my partner is supportive. So having everyone in my corner on a day-to-day basis is something that I am eternally going to be grateful for - knowing that I am not alone on this journey," she says.

"I've acquired a whole new family of sisters and brothers on Idols, and I know that my baby is going to be loved and cared for my so many people"

"And the messages that I receive from the viewers is absolutely beautiful. And I love each and every single one of them. It's beautiful. Honestly, it's great," she says.

About the many mommy milestones that lie ahead, Jerodine says that she is looking forward to educating and preparing her children for adulthood.

"I don't want to be too strict that my children wouldn't want to talk to me about certain things. I want to give them the life, and opportunities that I didn't have," she says.

She looks forward to serenading her newborn with the lullaby Loving Abba, as she grew up listening to it, and wants to pass on the tradition to her child.
