Cape Town - Trevor Noah has gone from being a local comedian to one of the biggest stars in the world.
It was a little under two years ago - on Monday, 30 March 2015 - that the 33-year-old was announced as the new host of The Daily Show and since then Trevor has enjoyed a meteoric rise in international recognition. Noah officially took the reigns for his first episode as host of the popular American show on Monday, 28 September 2015.
2017 might be just starting but Trevor is already having the best year ever.
Here are 5 of his biggest moments this year (in no particular order):
1. His TV show ratings are climbing by the day!
According to Vulture, February 2017 was The Daily Show's most watched month while Trevor has been the host. Another win for the American late night show is that they picked up more followers on their social media channels. This follows the news in October last year, that The Daily Show with Trevor Noah was the highest-rated and most-watched, daily late night talk show in the US among millennial men (18-34, 18-24).
The local comedian won two awards for his book at the NAACP Awards and received his first Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award in the category Best African Star.
3. His TIME Magazine cover.
In March, TIME Magazine revealed its 'Next Generation Leaders' and Noah made the 10 person long list.
4. The apartment that he bought for R130 million.
Trevor got the whole of SA talking when it was revealed that he bought an incredible 3 bedroom duplex in New York for R130 million.

5. The release of his Netflix comedy special, Afraid of the Dark, which was filmed in New York.
According to Noah having a comedy special - filmed in New York- was a lifelong dream. The fruition of that dream took place in February of 2017.
