Following Jacob Zuma's incarceration, protests have erupted across the country, with his sympathisers calling for the former president to be released from jail.

As riots, violence and looting continue in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal and the death toll due to the civil unrest continues to rise, many South Africans are feeling anxious and afraid.

Uniting South Africans in song, the Ndlovu Youth Choir have shared a message of hope with the country, delivering an emotionally-charged rendition of Mangisondele Nkosi Yam

"We pray for peace in our beautiful land during these difficult times. God bless South Africa," the group captioned the stirring rendition of the traditional praise and worship song on Instagram.

The title translates from Zulu to "Let Me Be Nearer My Lord" in English.

The Ndlovu Youth Choir famously stole the hearts of the America's Got Talent judges and viewers around the world with their moving rendition of My African Dream in 2019.
