  • Podcast and Chill's MacG (Macgyver Mukwevho) and Sol Phenduka were scammed by a chiller, who promised the duo an interview with Tom Cruise.
  • The alleged Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency representative invited Mukwevho and Phenduka to the set of the 8th installment of the Mission Impossible in Limpopo.
  • It appears as if the scammer's motive was to spend time with the controversial podcasters.

In the latest episode of Podcast and Chill, MacG (Macgyver Mukwevho) and Sol Phenduka revealed how they were "scammed" by a chiller, who promised to set up an interview with Hollywood's Tom Cruise.

Cruise is currently in South Africa, filming the 8th installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. In February, the 59-year-old was spotted filming on location in Limpopo and was reportedly staying in the small bush town, Hoedspruit.

Mukwevho and Phenduka started off by saying that they received an email from a person who said he worked at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, and that he could arrange for them to interview Cruise.

Despite the red flags, Mukwevho admitted: "I believed this was happening."

The pair drove to Limpopo, where they were welcomed by the alleged Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency representative and his wife.

The following day, Mukwevho and Phenduka realised that they had been conned when they arrived on set, and none of the production crew members were aware of their arrival or the interview.

A production crew member "freaked out" when she was made aware of their presence and informed them that "media was not allowed" in the restricted area.

During their interactions with the production crew, the alleged Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency representative was "quiet," said Mukwevho, adding: "It was awkward."

As more plans started to fall through, the pair confronted the man who arranged the set visit, who by then appeared to have only wanted to spend time with the Mukwevho and Phenduka. According to the duo, during the confrontation the man only smiled.

"He was just happy to spend the day with us," said Phenduka.

Although the man's intentions appear to have been innocent, Mukwevho and Phenduka were left fuming, saying: "We got conned of our time."

"We could have walked into our graves. He could have staged a hijacking gone wrong," said Phenduka. Both agreed to be more careful when accepting interview requests and when traveling to remote locations in the future.
