  • The Justice Desk is partnering with Mr South Africa and in a statement said: "The Justice Desk believes in promoting the power of the everyday person, and Mister South Africa reinforces this idea by changing the face of pageantry as we know it."
  • "Rather than searching to find a male that fits the mould that society has deemed perfect, the aim is to find and build an everyday hero," said a statement realised by Justice Desk.
  • Together we will impact, empower and educate the people of SA to overcome terrible social issues like human trafficking and gender-based violence," says Hannes Van Der Walt, Mr South Africa 2020.

The Mr South Africa Organisation and Justice Desk made an exciting announcement on Tuesday, saying: "The Justice Desk is joining forces with Mister South Africa, a contest that aims to challenge preconceived ideas of masculinity as well as promote the idea that you do not have to be a 'male model' to be a 'model male'."

"The Justice Desk believes in promoting the power of the everyday person, and Mister South Africa reinforces this idea by changing the face of pageantry as we know it. Rather than searching to find a male that fits the mould that society has deemed perfect, the aim is to find and build an everyday hero," said a statement released by Justice Desk.

South Africa is known as the 'fatherless nation' due to its high rates of absent fathers. It also severely lacks positive male role models, which has had a major effect on young men. As a result, young boys and men are often exposed to high levels of gangsterism, drug abuse and violence.

The Justice Desk aims to address and combat these issues through reshaping, redefining and rebuilding positive ideas and actions of masculinity.

"We are excited to see these role models showcase to other young men, that they too can become someone great irrespective of their backgrounds and upbringing," the statement continued.

"I'm excited and proud to be affiliated with The Justice Desk. I believe that by empowering ordinary people to understand and defend their Human Rights, we can transform society in a sustainable way and create a more just and equal world. Together we will impact, empower and educate the people of SA to overcome terrible social issues like human trafficking and gender-based violence," says Hannes Van Der Walt, Mr South Africa 2020
