Johannesburg – In an interview with Metro FM The Drive presenters Masechaba Ndlovu and DJ Mo Flava, kwaito star Mshoza opened up about the allegations that her estranged husband had beaten her during a recent incident.

The musician made headlines in past weeks, after reports emerged that she had decided to end her marriage after catching her husband Thuthukani Mvula cheating.

The star had also cancelled upcoming gigs and kept a low profile out of fear for her safety after things between her and Thuthukani apparently escalated.

When asked by Masechaba to explain what happened on the day of the incident, Mshoza responded by saying she was ambushed.

"I was ambushed on the day. I know my husband rocked up with guys with guns, and beat me up. It was in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, that's where a friend of mine stays."

According to Mshoza, her husband was under the impression that she was going to visit a boyfriend in the Free State. She also claimed a tracker was placed on her car by her husband's friends, which is how they were able to follow her.

The star said she was beaten up by her husband, and then stripped while the "guys with guns" kept a lookout. "Everything taken away from me,” she said in the interview. “From hair, to shoes, to everything. I was left with no bra.”

The muso also recalled begging Thuthukani not to hurt her when he first approached her car with a gun in hand upon arrival at her friend's place. "Baby don't do this, don't do this," she remembered saying, before adding: "He just started beating me up."

During the interview Mshoza confirmed that she had officially left her husband, and had taken out a restraining order against him which she always carries in her bag.
