Hannes Van Der Walt was announced Mr South Africa 2020 during a virtual ceremony on Saturday.
The Mr South Africa organisers hosted a controlled and closed crowning due to Covid-19 to ensure the safety of the finalists.
Speaking to Channel24 on Monday, Hannes said that he is grateful for the opportunity to represent the country as an ambassador, saying it's "a great privilege".
He says that although the news "hasn't really sunk in yet," the interviews and photoshoots are making it all seem more real.
De Villier Koster was named first runner up, while the second runner up title went to Lee Jordan Jacobs.

1. Hannes is 39 years old and from Kempton Park in Gauteng.
2. He is married and has two teenage children.
3. During the coronavirus pandemic, he started an NPO focused on providing meals for underprivileged children who were no longer receiving meals from school during the national lockdown.
4. Both his father and father-in-law are involved in ministry.
5. Hannes says that he hopes to use the platform "to raise better men, to raise better dads and in doing so, create a better South Africa".
