Miss and Mister Supranational and Miss Polski 2021 will take place from 20-22 August in Poland.

For the first time, Miss South Africa will also be sending a contestant to compete in the Miss Supranational pageant. And Thato Mosehle, first runner-up at Miss SA, will represent the country under the title Miss Supranational South Africa 2020.

As the country's first representative under the Miss South Africa Organisation banner, Thato said: "I feel like I'm being given the privilege of holding the pen that will write the history for South African women."

"After doing several editions in December, we are extremely excited to reintroduce the beauty of the Polish summer to the world. We are looking forward to welcome the aspirational, inspirational young women and men from all around the world as they compete for the titles of Miss Supranational and Mister Supranational. The long days, warm temperatures and natural beauty of the region we will be showcasing will allow us to remind the world that Poland is a country worth visiting," said Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski, president of the Miss and Mister Supranational Organisation

"The health and safety of everyone involved has always been our number one priority. As local authorities are working tirelessly to control the pandemic in the country, we believe that we will be ready to ensure that our competitions can take place in safe conditions. Needless to say, we will still be working very closely with health officials and our license holders around the world to take all the necessary precautions."

Speaking to Channel24 about representing the country at Miss Supranational in Poland, Thato said she is "feeling very excited and happy". Even though her Miss South Africa journey did not end the way she had hoped, she said: "When you aspire, you inspire. I'm not going to stop at being a doctor or national pageants."

As Miss Supranational South Africa, Thato's pageant platform is education. "I've seen that anything is possible when given the right opportunities. I value education, and it's very close to my heart. My mother instilled the value of education in me, and I hope to narrow the gap in terms of funding for tertiary education, textbooks or tech resources," she said.

Anntonia Porsild from Thailand will crown the 12th Miss Supranational, and Nate Crnkovich from the United States will pass on his title to the 5th Mister Supranational at the conclusion of each competition.

Thato admires reigning Miss Supranational Anntonia Porsild for the work she's done during the coronavirus pandemic, saying she "truly has a heart for people". "I like it when people are real with others," she adds.

And as she prepares for the 2021 pageant, Thato emphasises the importance of allowing her authentic self to shine through, although she says: "It's really hard for me to try and be someone else."
