Johannesburg – Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi has officially touched down in New York City.

The beauty queen, who took home the title of Miss SA at the 61st pageant in August, is in the US city to take part in Fashion Week

While there, Zozibini will also get the chance to catch up with Daily Show host Trevor Noah and will be interviewed by Essence magazine.

So far the beauty queen has spent time at the SA consulate, getting the chance to meet South Africa's ambassador.

"We had a very productive conversation with various members of the consulate around what's happening in our country and how we can best serve the women of our nation," she wrote.

This trip to New York also marks Zozibini's first time travelling abroad. In another post shared on Instagram, she spoke about how "ridiculously torn" she is feeling as her "heart is back home with all the women in this difficult time," referring to the marches against gender-based violence taking place in SA.

"A month ago on the 9th of August I stood in front of the whole country and spoke from the heart about the plight of South African women and today it stands true more than ever. Something has got to change."
